What to bring to your free BJJ trial
You don't need any specialist equipment for your first class.
Â
Adults: Wear comfortable sports clothing such as a T-shirt and shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms. You'll train barefoot, so please don't wear footwear on the mats. Bring some water and remove any jewellery before training.
Kids: Comfortable sports clothing is all they need for their first class. A T-shirt and shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms are fine. They'll train barefoot, and jewellery should be removed before class. Bring a drink of water too.
If you decide to continue training, we'll explain everything you need to know about Gi, No-Gi clothing. We do not have a mandatory uniform however and you may choose your own suitable BJJ gear - there's no obligation to wear our merchandise.

Nomad is a friendly, welcoming and beginner-friendly gym. Everyone who trains here was a beginner once, so we know exactly what it's like to walk through the doors for the first time.
Â
There’s no expectation that you'll know what you're doing and no pressure to prove yourself. We'll help you settle in, explain what's happening and make sure you feel comfortable on the mats.
Â
If you or your child is nervous, that's ok. Our coach James and our members will put you at ease as soon as you arrive. If you or your child have any worries you are welcome to have a chat with us beforehand.
